Build your Strength
Build is a strength focused group class using compound movements and classic strength & conditioning techniques. This program is all about getting stronger, promoting the growth of lean muscle mass, and improving body composition.
#BuildStrong
If you want to get stronger in a fun and exciting group class format than BUILD is for you. Build is an Ironstone original – we created this class to make barbell and weight training accessible and challenging no matter your current experience level or fitness. Why should you do strength work? The benefits are many: increased bone density, increased lean muscle mass, greater resilience to injury, more power and speed for sport, and functional strength to use in everyday life. However one of the most often overlooked benefits is that it is fun and inherently motivating – as your technique improves and your confidence increases its easy to see your progress as each lift improves pound by pound. Our accessory work will also show you your weaknesses and how to address them. Strength training, paired with high quality nutrition, can form the foundation of a lifelong fitness program that keeps you motivated, healthy and engaged. Below the surface you will also get mentally stronger – the barbell can teach us many lessons about life, focus, resilience, and dedication.
Brick by Brick, Stone by Stone.
The build program is focused on getting stronger using the most versatile tool in your tool bag: the barbell. This class will use a healthy dose of the classic lifts, such as bench press, deadlift, back squat, cleans, snatches, and presses, mixed with accessory weighted and bodyweight movements. You will see dumbbells and kettlebells, sandbags and cables. You will also get a healthy dose of core work. Some days you will do work capacity and loaded conditioning elements. Other days you will see pure aerobic power pieces on the airbike or rower. While the focus is on getting stronger, think of this more like a class designed to build your foundation of strength and toughen you up. The engaging group class format will help you stay motivated and energized. Join the team and lets get building!
We currently offer 14 BUILD classes per week in our dedicated Strength Platform area at the back of the gym. The program focuses on a M/T/W/F/S schedule but participants following along can make up a missed day or session using a Strength Platform Reservation. In order to participate in Build classes you will need to complete foundations or have joined us having experience with the barbell lifts.
