November 27 2015 Members
Tom1We would like to introduce you to our athlete of the month Tomelise Pearce. Tomelise is an outstanding member of our CrossFit community here at CFIS. She has great determination and a work ethic to match. What we love about Tom is that she doesn’t take herself too seriously – she is known and appreciated in class for her fun loving attitude and can be found cracking jokes and making sure others are having a good time. We recently asked Tom a few questions so you could get to know her a little better:

1.How old are you? What do you do for work?

I am 26 years old and I am in Human Resources. I am the People & Organization Coordinator at Atlantic Cat.

2. How and when did you discover CrossFit?

I did my first CrossFit class when I was home in Saskatchewan for Christmas last year and loved it! I heard about Ironstone opening shortly after I returned to Nova Scotia and came to the very first community class.

3. What is your athletic background prior to CF?

I figure skated when I was younger and I played volleyball competitively in high school.

4. Has CF changed how you view fitness?

Totally. I saw staying fit as a chore before; I absolutely hated going to a regular gym or going for a run. CrossFit has shown me that fitness can happen in a community setting that I always look forward to coming to.

5. Top 3 goals for 2016

  1. Hit a 200 lb deadlift.
  2. Do a pull-up without a band!!!
  3. Master my double unders.

6. Proudest CF moment so far?

Getting a trophy at Festivus. I thought I was in way over my head even signing up so when I came in second I was so stoked!

7. What do you do in your spare time besides CF?

During the summer, Wes and I try to get outdoors as much as we can – things like camping, hiking, and travelling. Winter months I’m pretty chill – just lots of time hanging out with Heather and Jenn.

8. What is it about CF that Keeps you motivated?

The community element. I love coming to the gym and seeing people I know. I can always count on everyone to push me to lift a little heavier and move a little faster.

9. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

I have three sisters and we all have matching names: Tomesine, Tomelise, Tomelene, and Tomenette.

Lets get those goals together Girl!
